Sticky Biscuits is a team I’ve been jamming with for 11+ years. We all work professionally in the industry but come together annually to participate in the Global Game Jam as a space to experiment creatively outside of studio work. Sometimes we even host a site!
Our group uses game jams as an opportunity to prototype unusual concepts and aim to step away from conventional design expectations. Every year we try to travel to a new place in the world to gain different perspectives on the culture and communities there!
So far we have jammed in:
Seattle, US
Tokyo, Japan
Brighton, UK
London, UK
Copenhagen, DK

Sometimes I work on solo projects or side projects with my partner! One of our projects is:
Dark Forest Cafe: This one is a merge game where you bake for creatures who have been taken over by the Dark Forest’s shadow shifting. If you bake them what they like, they will change back to their original form (and eventually join you at your camp).
You can merge ingredients to combine in the bowls below the grid. Once a recipe mixture has been made it will be in a colored bowl that corresponds to the actions you can take: Freeze, Bake, or Fry. If there is more than one option, the bowl will be a hybrid color.
Characters will have a favorite ingredient, and a favorite meal. If you get the ingredient right, you will get points, but if you get the whole meal correct you will get a large amount of points. You can also discover new recipes.
We created different versions of this where there is a camp where you interact with your saved creatures, or they help you battle shadow creatures in a screen above the grid in day/night cycle.
Some other projects we’re working on include:
Don’t Get Rained On: A mobile game where you play as a cat going through a city while trying not to get wet from the rain. The weather stats for each city are affected by the real time weather in real life. Multiple cats can be collected and they gather and buy goods at the cafe.
Ode to Koi: A game where you design relaxing, calming gardens with koi ponds and relaxation areas
Bubble Terrarium: Game with bubble popping puzzles (they alternate in different patterns) to collect artifacts, creatures, and types of terrain that fill up the top of the screen. I started designing this with the intention to give people who want to do art, but are hesitant a way to play a puzzle and create art at the same time. I also wanted them to feel like they were helping a creature and environment along the way.
